The Karoo is a semi-desert area in South Africa that stretches over parts of the Western Cape and Northern Cape. We spent the weekend at my boyfriend’s family farm in the Roggeveld region of the Karoo near Laingsburg. The farm is one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. The region is notoriously hot and dry in summer, but seems we picked the coldest week of the whole winter to visit the farm. We were fortunate enough to see snow – which is quite a treat for South Africans as it barely snows once or twice year and only on the highest mountains or plateaus.
